अगर पेड़ न होते तो

किसान खेत में थक जाए तो,

छाँव देने वाला पेड़

स्वच्छ हवा में साँस जो ली,

उस साँस को देने वाला पेड़

मीठे-मीठे फल जो दे,

कौन है वो, है वो पेड़

ठंड लगी तो आग जलाई,

उस लकड़ी को देने वाला पेड़

चिड़िया चूँ-चूँ अंडे दे,

शाखा किसकी? है वो पेड़ 

शेर, हाथी, जंगल में  रहते,

जंगल जो बनाए, वो हैं पेड़ 
किताब उठाई, की पढ़ाई

उस किताब को देने वाला पेड़ 

पेंसिल रबड़ कुर्सी मेज़ 

इन सब को देने वाला पेड़

मिट्टी का कटाव जो रोके 

'ग्लोबल वार्मिंग' से बचाने वाला पेड़!

मेरी कविता सुनकर शायद आपको ऐहसास हो गया होगा कि  पेड़ हमारे जीवन में कितने ज़रूरी हैं |लेकिन क्या आपने कभी रुकके सोचा है कि अगर पेड़ नहीं होते तो क्या होता? नहीं ना? हमें पेड़ों से मिलने वाली चीज़ों की इतनी आदत हो गई है कि हम मुड़के देखते नहीं कि पेड़ों का क्या हो रहा है!

आओ कुछ देर के लिए सोचें एक ऐसी दुनिया के बारे में जहाँ पेड़ नहीं हैं... अरे यह क्या? मुझे कुछ नज़र नहीं आ रहा...| सारे लोग कहाँ हैं? पक्षी कहाँ हैं? क्या दुनिया ख़त्म हो गई? शायद हाँ !मुझे डर लग रहा है|  जो मैंने अभी देखा, वो बहुत डरावना था! कैसे हुआ यह सब? शायद मुझे पता है... जब लोग पेड़ काटकर ऊंची ऊंची  इमारतें  बना रहे थे, पेड़ कटके ढेर सारा फर्नीचर, खूब सारा कागज़ इस्तेमाल हो रहा था, धीरे-धीरे पेड़ कम हो रहे थे, धरती पर ऑक्सीजन घट रहा था, जंगल कम हो रहे थे तो जानवर भी कम हो रहे थे, और इंसान भी नहीं बचे - सब ख़त्म हो गया | हाँ | यही दृश्य मैंने अभी देखा | पेड़ों  ने हमारी बहुत ज़रूरतों को पूरा किया है | अब जब उन्हें हमारी ज़रुरत है, तो हमें भी हाथ बढ़ाना  चाहिए और पेड़ों  से बनी चीज़ो का समझदारी से इस्तेमाल करना चाहिए | मैनें एक बात सुनी है - नया पेड़ उगाने का सबसे अच्छा समय २० साल पहले था पर उससे अच्छा समय है अब! 

आखिर में मैं यही कहना चाहूंगी - 

ज़िन्दगी देने वाला पेड़,

ज़िन्दगी बचाने वाला पेड़, 

मगर पेड़ को कौन बचाएगा?

हम! हम और सिर्फ़ हम!

Class 1 to Class 2

I am really going to miss Class I
Because in this class, I had so much fun
Shalini Mam, Chering Mam, Kanika Mam I will miss you
But I am also very happy that I am going to a class so new
I will try to come and meet you all every day
And now comes my journey to go a long way

Barfeelee Antarctica बर्फ़ीली अंटार्कटिका

This poem is really special for my parents and me because it got nominated in a writing competition on Antarctica and I got a chance to meet Mr. Robert Swan. Mr. Robert Swan is a polar explorer, an environmentalist and the first person to have walked both the North Pole and the South Pole unsupported. In fact, I was the only one to write a poem in Hindi and it was specially translated for him to know my thoughts :)  Thank you Shri Ram School for this opportunity!

   बर्फ़ीली अंटार्कटिका

क्यों अंटार्कटिका  को चूर- चूर कर रहे हो ?
क्यों अंटार्कटिका  को खुद से दूर कर रहे हो?
हमें अंटार्कटिका  को बचाने के लिए कदम बढ़ाना होगा,
वरना हम इंसानों के लिए, गलत रास्ता ही बनेगा!
ओज़ोन लेयर में छेद, हो रहा है बड़ा,
अभी भी समय है, चलो हो जाएँ खड़ा!
चलो अब छोड़ो, दुनिया क्या करे,
अंटार्कटिका को बचाओ, और करो जो दिल कहे!

I'm ready for a change. Are you?

These are some changes,
In my school I would like to make,
But I don't mean to say,
My school's not nice,' for heaven's sake'!
I wish horses in school I could ride,
And by the speed limit, I didn't have to abide!
Break-time on the backfield bars, I'd love to spend,
To the break, I'd like no end!
I wish I had more sleepovers in school,
And the places for picnics could be more cool!


Now that you've read about my views,
I hope you'll understan',
In place of these new things,
Some other things I'd like to ban!
I wish I don't have to practice with dumb bells,
And look like a dumb bell,
I wish I could run away from the Sports day drill,
And shut myself away in a shell!

Dear Water....we will save you

I wrote this poem as class work in Grade III

Water, Water, Water,

Are you in a scatter?

'Sorry', I say, from everyone's side,
But I don't want, a day when you died,
As you are used for work and fun,
You wash clothes that dry, under the sun,
From the clouds you plip,
From the clouds you plop,
I'm sure it hurts,
When you drop!! :(
But now we will, take care of you,
We will give you all our love,
So fun and work you'll make us do! :)

Ghadiyaal Babu

घड़ियाल बाबू

घड़ियाल बाबू हो तुम,
समय दिखाना तुम्हारा काम,
समय हमें पता चलता,
जैसे हम लेते तुम्हारा नाम!
हर घर में ज़रुरत पड़ती,
तुम्हारे बिना बात आगे न बढ़ती ,
तीन  सुईयाँ है, तुम्हारे अंदर,
तुमसे बड़ा न हो सकता बंदर!

मेरे प्यारे आज़ोबा

I wrote this poem on 9th September, 2009 for my Azoba (Grandfather)


आप हो इस दुनिया के,
आज़ोबा सबसे अच्छे,
मेरे साथ खेलते हो तो,
बन जाते हो बच्चे,
आप मुझे मम्मी-पापा की,
डांट से बचाते हो,
मेरे पास ही रहो,
बॉम्बे  क्यों चले जाते हो?
यहाँ पर मैं  आपको,
करती हूँ बहुत MISS,
पापा के साथ भेज रही हूँ,
बहुत सारी  KISS.

Common Wealth Games 2010

यह कविता कॉमन वेल्थ गेम्स के १० दिन पहले लिखी थी

     क्या यह ठीक हो रहा है?

 

७० हज़ार करोड़ रूपया, खर्च  हुआ इस पर,

सारा टैक्स  इस्तेमाल  कर लेंगे, तो क्या आम जनता का चलेगा घर?

खेल शुरू होने में दिन रह गए  हैं  दस,

पुल गिरने के बाद भी, सरकार  नहीं हुई टस  से मस,

फ़िर अखबार में  घबर आई,

हमारे भारत की हुई बुराई,

गेम्स विलेज के बिस्तरों को, कुत्तों ने किया ख़राब,

अब हमें शर्म आ रही है, उतर गया हमारा नकाब,

तय्यारी में लगा रही है,

दिल्ली अपना सारा दम,

फ़िर भी मैंने सुना है,

खिलाड़ी आ रहे है थोड़े कम,

अब तो मैं  बस यही दुआ करती हूँ,

कि भारत को और शर्म न आये,

इस साल के कॉमन  वेल्थ गेम्स,

बिना मुश्किल के गुज़र जायें !

Joy of Giving

Poor by the road,
Sadness in their mind,
They hope somebody comes,
And gives them something to cover their forward and behind,
Along comes a girl,
To give the poor things,
The girl feels happy, because of her distributing,
This is what is called, the Joy of Giving.

Suhanee is our Pearl

Meher wrote this poem for Suhanee on 22nd September 2010 for her birthday

Our dear Suhanee is now turning seven,
I want her to get, lots of blessings from heaven,
Shyness and naughtiness, is present in this girl,
She's never in a muddle, she's clear like a pearl.

I've always seen her happy, sad very less,
From my side, I'd say, she may always get success,
Like a crystal, her eyes are,
If she gets happy, she won't let you go far!!
